Bike plan in green scheme
-
- Community leaders behind a scheme to improve their neighbourhood are
to install 14 cycle lockers. The committee of the Morice Town Home Zone
has already donated 30 BikeAway lockers to Parkside School. The lockers
allow cycles to be stored securely, encouraging more children to bike
to school. The committee is looking for suitable places to install lockers
within the neighbourhood. The £1 million Morice Town scheme is one of
only nine pilots in the UK and is the second - largest Home Zone pilot
area after Manchester.
-
- The idea behind the scheme is that pedestrians and cyclists are given
greater priority on roads so they share the space with cars. Play areas
are also installed and trees planted to make the area more pleasant.
