BikeAway, Britain’s best-known provider of secure cycle parking lockers, has teamed up with Plymouth Pavilions and Plymouth City Council to offer 10 commuters the chance to have exclusive private cycle parking facilities right in the heart of the city centre.

Ten state-of-the-art BikeAway lockers have been installed in the shadow of Plymouth Pavilions for long-term hire to commuters who would rather cycle to work than drive a car through rush-hour traffic.

The BikeAways will keep cycles dry, secure, and out of sight of thieves and vandals – and, at a cost of less than £3.00 a week for exclusive use of a locker 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, commuters who switch from car to cycle will not only save a small fortune in petrol and parking charges but will do their bit to make the planet a touch greener, too.

Hiring a BikeAway cycle parking locker at Plymouth Pavilions has the added advantage of being yours for as long as you want it.

You will receive a key to your locker and you can use it for as long as you like, and as often. There will be no traffic wardens to worry about, no penalty charges, no chance of your bike being vandalised or stolen, and no soggy saddle when you return to it… even after a thunderstorm!

The lockers have been installed in a joint initiative by BikeAway inventor Jason Hamlyn and Plymouth City Council, who have each put up half of the cost. Plymouth Pavilions has given the land for the lockers – seven in front of the building and three behind.

BikeAway is encouraging employers to split the cost of hiring the lockers with employees who use them, meaning an even better bargain for cyclists compared with the cost of parking a car in the city centre all day.

The cost of hiring a BikeAway locker for a year is £150 plus a refundable deposit of £50.

If your employer pays half and reclaims the VAT, the cost to the employer will be only £63.82 and the cost to you will be only £75, plus the £50 deposit that will be refunded at the end of the hire period.
