Business Review March 2000 BikeAway Takeaway Unveiled
His new
trailer, christened the "BikeAway Takeaway", means the Plymouth inventor
can take a pair of cycle cabinets right into a workplace and demonstrate
them on the spot. "The reaction's
been brilliant," he said. "When I visited the first factory to show the
managing director, about 20 of the workers came out, surrounded my trailer,
and told the MD they'd never speak to him again if he didn't order loads
of BikeAways. "Seeing
is believing - and I always knew that once people had a chance to see
a BikeAway for themselves, they'd reach for their cheque-books. "That's
because BikeAway is not only the smartest, strongest, and smallest cabinet
on the market, but it's a third of the price of its nearest rival." BikeAway
has already been snapped up by Sainsbury's nationally, by Plymouth City
Council, Devon County Council and businesses in the Home Counties - and
Jason is in negotiation with a number of rail operators, local authorities,
housing associations and large employers. "I'm prepared
to jump in my BikeAway Takeaway and visit anyone, any time, to show them
how wonderfully easy it is to use BikeAway and what an elegant solution
it would be to their cycle parking problems. "If anyone wants the BikeAway Takeaway to visit them,
all they have to do is give us a ring on 01752 701129 or e-mail us at
bikeaway@unforgettabrand.com "BikeAway is such a breakthrough in terms of
its design, cycle-friendliness, and simplicity that it has won powerful
allies throughout the cycle parking and green transportation world. Sustrans, the sustainable
transport group who are building the National Cycle Network, praised BikeAway
in a half-page article in their Safe Routes To School newsletter, while
the most respected independent transportation management consultant in
the industry, Dave Holladay, has acclaimed BikeAway as the best value
cycle parking locker he has seen. It has also been
featured in a four-minute spot on national television. BBC2's Working Lunch visited Estover Community
College in Plymouth where no one had ever cycled to school until Plymouth's
Road Safety officer, Adrian Trim, agreed to provide the students with
50 BikeAways. Full details are available on at www.bikeaway.com
