The London Cycle Network is one of the biggest cycling schemes in the country. Originally conceived as far back as 1980, the present implementation started in 1995. The London Cycle Network is taking shape around the capital, with nearly 1900 miles (3000 km) of routes planned. The Government is committed to completing the London Cycle Network by the year 2005. It will provide direct access to all major centres of employment, education, and leisure, and all railway stations. A map is available that shows all of the routes that make up the London Cycle Network.

Global Action Plan is an independent national charity that helps people to take small, positive steps to reduce their impact on the environment and improve their quality of life. We achieve this mainly through two key programmes, Action At Home and Action At School.

Action At Home helps people to look at the impact that their lifestyle has on the environment and to make informed choices and changes. It costs households £12 (only £5 to households within Devon) to take Action At Home.

Action At School helps secondary schools to work together to save resources (and money) at school.

Our other programmes are:

  • Action At Work - for large businesses and industry
  • Environmental Champions - for small businesses
  • Action In The Community - for community groups and villages (currently on trial in North Devon)
