CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION
BikeAway has been bought by Plymouth City Council and installed at Estover Community College where no-one had ever cycled to school before. It has the potential to save up to 500 car journeys a week. The installation of 50 BikeAway's has been described as "the bee's knees" by the students - and the city's highways and road safety officials say they hope to be inundated with requests for BikeAway's from other schools.
In fact, Plymouth's Senior Transport Officer, Phil Rosindale, is so enthusiastic about BikeAway that he actually insisted on his telephone number being included in our brochure so that prospective buyers could seek his opinion.
BikeAway has now been installed at Stoke Damerel Community College in Plymouth, where staff were amazed to find that they were able to fit 24 BikeAway's into a space that had previously held only 12 bike racks, and Plymstock School has taken delivery of 44 units.
AS SEEN ON TV!
BikeAway has been featured in a four-minute spot on national television on BBC2's Working Lunch - the cult business programme watched by more than a million viewers a day. The programme showed the Estover School installation, the factory, the inventor, Jason Hamlyn, and the production process... some of it set brilliantly to the Queen song Bicycle Race. The installation has also been showcased on the BBC TV regional news magazine programme Spotlight South West, and inventor Jason Hamlyn has appeared on BBC Radio Devon for an hour to talk out his brainchild.
